What each operation does
- Trim lines — strips whitespace from both ends of every line. Invisible spaces usually come from exactly here.
- Remove blank lines — drops lines that are empty or only whitespace. The most common cleanup for code and logs.
- Dedupe lines — keeps the first occurrence of each line, drops later repeats, order preserved.
- Sort A→Z / Z→A — sorts by code point, so digits come before letters.
- Sort by length — shortest first, handy for tidying keyword lists.
- Case conversion — Latin letters only; CJK text is untouched.
- Capitalize sentences — splits on . ! ? and CJK equivalents, upper-cases the first letter of each sentence.
- Collapse spaces — turns runs of spaces into one.
- Escape / unescape HTML — converts between
<div>and<div>, which matters when pasting code. - Reverse / number lines — small helpers for logs and checklists.
How the counts work
- Characters — counted by Unicode code point, so one CJK character is 1 and one emoji is 1, not 2.
- CJK characters — the count many editors and submission forms ask for.
- Words — runs of Latin letters separated by whitespace or punctuation.
- UTF-8 bytes — a CJK character takes 3 bytes, an emoji 4. Use this when a database column is sized in bytes.
FAQ
Will an operation overwrite my input?
No. Results land on the right, and "Replace input with result" is a separate click — so you can stack operations without losing the original.
Does it handle very large text?
Tens of thousands of lines finish in milliseconds and the counts are live. Beyond a few hundred thousand lines, a command-line tool is a better fit.
Is regex replacement available?
This version offers fixed operations only. Ask for regex support via the contact page.
